My Iced Gems Are Finally Finished!

It's all been a bit hectic recently, what with preparing for the show and inexpert attempts at carpentry, but I've finally finished and photographed my iced gems, hurrah! Each size gem I hand carved in wax, then sent off for casting. The tiny one made my head hurt to carve (it's less than 1cm in diameter) but I love how it turned out - so cute!

After finishing, polishing and photographing, this is how they ended up. Tada!

The tiny silver iced gems became earrings, a necklace and a ring, and the medium and large sizes I turned into necklaces.

I'm also trying out some new photography (again!) as I really like my dark backgrounds but lighter ones are currently much more popular with third party websites. I'm so used to the contrast between the dark and the shiny bright silver, I find it difficult to work out whether the silver is exposed correctly or not on a white background!

Just need to photograph my party ring and my larger biscuits, then it's on to deciding what biscuit to make next...
